Wishlist and Registry Options for the Holidays, Weddings, Babies & Charities/Non-Profits

If your kid is looking to put together their Christmas list, why not use a wishlist service that you can utilize for multiple retailers versus one like Amazon?

While all of these work for the holidays, Things to Get Me is great for wedding registries & creators, and Little Wishlist is designed for baby showers, kids birthdays, and other kid-centered events. Most of these options are multi-purpose so you can definitely get creative with how you use them.

An Instagram follower also asked for Amazon wishlist alternatives for charities or non-profits, and most of these options would also work well for that purpose. If you run or support an organization like that, let me know if I missed anything!

Things to get me: Great for people who want things beyond products online like experiences or cash. Helpful for wedding registries with features like adding a date and address for the event. Elfster: Best utilized to manage Secret Santa exchanges, but also has wishlist functionality.

  • The Details: As far as I can tell, owned by the founder Peter Imburg. Elfster does not have a profile on OpenSecrets nor a public diversity policy.

  • Cost: Free, but it looks like they also run ads

  • Features: For a Secret Santa type exchange, Elfster will draw names for gifts so there’s no duplicates or confusion. They also offer Smart Exclusions, which enables you to set it up so couples don’t draw each other, kids won’t be paired with adults, and you can exclude last year’s matches.

  • Available On: Web, iOS, Android, browser extension for Chrome

GiftList: Giftlist uses AI to suggest gift ideas, which is not my favorite but may be handy for some. They also do not seem to offer custom gift ideas like experiences or cash.

  • The Details: Owned by Malibu Vista Ventures, Inc which I could not find further details on. Neither Giftlist nor Malbu Vista Ventures has a profile on OpenSecrets or a public diversity policy.

  • Cost: Free

  • Features: Create public and private wishlists, add items from any website, easily add products with a link & will autopopulate the details, keep gifting a surprise by hiding purchases from the list maker, track the purchase status of gifts

  • Available On: Web, iOS, Android; browser extensions for Firefox, Chrome
