Latest Boycott News: Wanna Stop Big AI’s Political Influence?

Want to stop Big Tech & AI companies’ influence in politics? Sick of data centers being pushed onto your community?

Me too!

That’s why I’m proud to announce that Cut Off the Spigot is a launch partner of Stop Bleeding the Future, a coalition campaign calling on every politician to reject money from Leading the Future. They’re an AI Super PAC funded by OpenAI’s president, Palantir’s co-founder and others.

Leading the Future has already raised over $140 million to promote their agenda 😟 – but we’re fighting back! 💪🤝

They also use their money to fund misleading pro-AI propaganda campaigns:

Leading the Future doesn’t discriminate by party, they want to fund anyone willing to prop up their agenda. You can check if your local candidate accepted money from them at Stop Bleeding the Future’s tracker.

At BleedingTheFuture.org, you can sign-up to volunteer and join the campaign and see if your candidate has taken the pledge.

And if they haven’t? Send them a letter or call today!

Great! Now it’s time for a bit of a palate cleanser on this Friday afternoon ☺️

What’s Bringing Me Joy Lately

I’ve been having a hard time finding new media (TV shows, podcasts, etc) that I actually like, so I thought I’d share a couple of gems I’ve been really enjoying recently.

Everybody Lies (Tout Le Monde Ment): If you want to escape to a world where the ultra-wealthy actually pay for their crimes, check out Everybody Lies. It’s a French TV show with a Sherlock-like character as the main brilliant detective, with a crack team of misfits whose special investigations unit looks into crimes likely committed by those in power. I absolutely loved it – while somewhat unrealistic (unfortunately), the characters are great, the mysteries are good, and it’s in French which is always fun. You can find it on PBS Passport, which is a great streaming option 😁

Random Guys Podcast: Two South African comedians talk about everything from daily life, science, some politics, and loads of other random topics. They’re hilarious and authentic, and I love hearing their perspective on things. I think it’s only available on YouTube which is a bit frustrating, but worth a try. You can also find clips on their TikTok account.
